Maternal and Fetal Medicine Top Erin H. Burnett, M.D., FACOG Chief The division of maternal and fetal medicine in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville is accountable for development and coordination of perinatal services across Northeast Florida and South Georgia. Our mission is to provide the highest quality health care to all women. Through the collaborative efforts of an integrated network of multidisciplinary providers that includes physicians, certified nurse midwives, Healthy Start personnel, nutritionists, health educator and pharmacists, our comprehensive services are designed to meet the perinatal health care needs of our patients. We are committed to excellence in patient care; sharing our wealth of knowledge through resident, medical student and nurse midwifery student education; and clinical research in perinatal medicine. Patient Care Our primary outpatient and inpatient perinatal center is at UF Health Jacksonville, one of 11 designated Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Centers (RPICC) in the State of Florida. Our division also offers perinatal services at UF Health Women's Specialists – Emerson on Jacksonville's Southside and UF Health Women's Specialists – North on Jacksonville's Northside. Our perinatal center provides comprehensive obstetric ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, genetic and perinatal consultation, perinatal HIV prevention, fetal health monitoring and testing and the resources of an academic medical center. Our board-certified MFM specialists have the expertise to provide the special care your pregnancy may require, or to provide guidance to your primary care obstetrical provider. Our staff includes registered diagnostic medical ultrasonographers (RDMS), a genetic counselor, certified nurse midwives, a perinatal nurse coordinator and nurses. The physicians in our division provide direct patient care and prenatal diagnosis at UF Health Women's Specialists – Jacksonville at UF Health Jacksonville and prenatal diagnosis at UF Health Women's Specialists – Emerson. We also supervise care provided by residents and certified nurse midwives at UF Health Women's Specialists – Jacksonville. We provide consultative services (preconception and prenatal), ultrasound and genetic counseling to health care providers and patients in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, and are a resource for private practitioners, providers at county health department clinics (Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties), Naval Hospital Jacksonville and Naval Branch Health Clinic Mayport.
